Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, 78% of employers consider “soft skills” like communication, problem solving, and people skills to be “very important to success”¹. Only 60% of employers surveyed consider subject-matter expertise to be very important to success². However, in a separate study done by the American Association of Colleges and Universities, only 47% of surveyed employers thought that getting a bachelor’s degree was definitely worth it³. And 8% indicated they had very little confidence in higher education’s ability to prepare students pursuing a bachelor’s degree for the workforce⁴.
