Description: The beginning of history is given in the Bible’s creation account, and this book uses the days of creation as a way of introducing a wide range of scientific concepts including the nature of light, energy conservation, the properties of air and water, introductory botany, our solar system, basic zoology, and some aspects of human anatomy and physiology. As the students learn about these scientific concepts, they are constantly reminded of the Creator who fashioned the marvels they are studying. This course uses dozens of hands-on experiments and discussion questions to help students understand and learn the material. Students will not be graded in this course, but are expected to actively participate. If grading is necessary, parents can request this directly for an extra fee.

Description: One of the very first questions children ask when they learn to speak is the question: why. Why is the sky blue? Why do I have to eat my food? Why can’t we go play over there? If we look closely, these little children are asking adults for an explanation, or a defense, for why things are the way they are. A justification for why adults are making the decisions they are making. A rationalization for why adults think what they think.
We never stop being these little children. From the dawn of time, we humans have always asked why. Throughout the course of history, God has graciously given us the answer to many of our whys in the Bible. In doing so, He became, in a sense, the very first ‘apologist.’ As Christians, it is our joy and duty to follow in His footsteps and to explain and defend, first to ourselves and then to the world around us, why.
In this course, we will study Christian apologetics: the intellectual defense of the truth of Christianity. It is a defense that is both internal–against our own personal doubts–as well as external–against attacks from others who do not believe in the God of the Bible. We will examine and answer questions such as: Is the Bible true? Is God good? Is truth absolute? Why does pain exist? Is Hell real? And many others. My goal for you as you engage with me on this journey is that you will have a greater confidence at the end of this course in the reliability and veracity of your faith and in your ability to convey and defend it to others (1 Peter 3:15).
Required Materials:
● Understanding the Faith: A Survey of Christian Apologetics Student Textbook (Summit)
● The Bible (for memorization).
● Notebook and writing materials for taking notes.
● A curious disposition and a mind ready to learn
Homework will be assigned but parents are responsible to grade and keep records.
