Unbound Mission & Values Statement

Unbound is an explicitly Christian company, and our number one mission is to build the kingdom of Christ. When we use the term “Christian” or “Christianity,” this is what we mean:

  • Historical, orthodox Christianity, by which we mean adhering to the accepted or traditional and established faith of Christianity and adhering to the Christian faith as expressed in the early Christian ecumenical creeds. Christianity as understood and defined by Scripture, early Church fathers, and early traditional creeds (such as the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed).
  • We believe that Scripture is inerrant and authoritative. We believe that Jesus was a real historical person, that He was fully God and fully man, that He was crucified, died, and resurrected, that He lives and reigns today, and that His death and resurrection are the means of our salvation.
  • Unbound’s Christian beliefs define our belief and position on moral issues, which means that Unbound adheres to traditional, historical, and orthodox Christian positions on matters related to life, sexuality and marriage. We believe that all people are made in the image of God (the imago dei) and that all of us live constantly in the presence of God (coram deo).
  • We believe that these understandings form the basis for a comprehensive worldview. That worldview is the way that we understand, comprehend, and make sense of all of reality.
  • Because of these realities and this worldview, we believe that our primary mission and the purpose of life is to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, mind, and soul, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Unbound believes that Christianity proposes; it does not impose. Consequently, Unbound does not require students to sign a statement of faith. However, it is essential that students understand what Unbound believes and that those beliefs form the priorities that will define everything that Unbound does.

Christianity is the ethical foundation and authority for Unbound. How we treat our team members, students, clients and customers, and anyone we do business with is based on Christian ethics. Making sure that we are correctly following and living out Christian ethics in all that we do is the responsibility of every single Unbound team member.

The mission of Unbound is to build the kingdom of Christ. We are not a ministry. We are a for profit business. However, we believe all Christ-honoring work is a form of ministry. In that sense, everything we do is missional and must be focused on kingdom building.

Our purpose in articulating these beliefs is not to articulate a complete theological foundation, however, it is to be clear about what we believe, offer some definition for that belief, and make sure that anyone who reads this understands what our priorities will be and what we will base those priorities on.
